One night, she decided she needed nail polish to match a pair of sky-blue sandals. In her bathroom, she applied her knowledge of chemistry from her pre-med classes to mix up some nail polish. The unusual color was a hit with her friends, so Mohajer, at the urging of her sister Pooheh, took it to the boutique owner, who agreed to sell it. Mohajer mixed up several more colors of nail polish, and called the line Hard Candy.
The striking colors proved so popular that the boutique couldn't keep Hard Candy in stock. Mohajer took a loan from her parents and went into business full time. It was the start of something big.
