Macie's Mind Map of "Module 8: Progress Monitoring"
Part 1:
Progress monitoring is used to
Part of the RTI process and helps evaluate effectiveness of the intervention
● assess performance and understand student's improvement
● make teaching more effective for individual
part 9
Cycle 4 is required to plot the pre-intervention data points that must be added to the graph.
analyze trend lines to determine if the student is falling behind based on the trend line. This is a step closer to being able to tell if the student is still at risk.
part 11
Evaluate the impact of the intervention on the student.
Identify what is known, what is going to be asked and analyzed, and what changes as the intervention goes on.
part 5
cycle 2 baseline performance
reveal a need for more knowledge
part 12
Take action base don the impact: this would involve changing methods based on the way a student is responding to the intervention if needed.
Continue to collect data and go through the process of analysis of the data.
part 7
Based on end of year goal
-must know the end goal to determine if a student is still considered at risk
-use percentiles to compare to other students taking the same assessments
part 4
Analyze data and use spreadsheet or the method for assessing the student to compare results
Understand results and answer questions that were asked in the beginning
compare with cut score
Apply actions based on findings
part 2
Benchmark score: a pre-determined level of performance on a test that is considered the level where students should be performing
Other ways to calculate end goal scores:
-line of best fit
-baseline score
-rate of improvement
part 6
limitations do exist, so a baseline can help show a more accurate representation of a student's ability.
-multiple probes are included for more accuracy and options to compare
-the same spreadsheet is used
-the scores are plotted in the same way and assessed in the same way each time
part 8
Take action with the information gained to lead to the end of year goal.
percentiles are helpful to compare fall, winter, and spring.
continue the data cycle to determine if the student is still at risk
part 10
add in an aim line between baseline and goal line
trend line is made up of data points, while the aim line is positioned based off of the base and goal.
After implementing the intervention and applying this, the 4th cycle is done
part 3
tools for progress monitoring: Aimsweb, Edcheckup, DIBELS, easyCBM, FAST, istation, STAR
Find a method to accumulate data for assessing students
