Max Weber: Verstehen (1864–1920) was the eldest son of a father who was a well-to-do German lawyer and politician. Weber wrote on a wide variety of topics, including the nature of power, the religions of the world, law, economics, rural and urban sociology, the nature of social classes, and the development and nature of bureaucracy.
