Definition: All the ways in which equipment is used to tell the story in a media text eg. improving a photograph using Photoshop so that the model appears perfect.

Definition: Imply or connotate information to an audience eg. sad facial expression = upset character
Georgina is wearing gold, pearls and expensive jewelry which implies that is what the target audience are interested in. Shows wealth and higher class.
Extreme make-up connotes the upper class are separate and above common folk who wouldn't dress like that. Similar to a runway model.
Linguistic codes
Definition: What is implied through the use of words eg. 'Labour's Disastrous defeat' = Labour did badly
Who is at the top of everyone's party guest list (and who's at the bottom...). This is saying some people are more valued than others.
