    - - Deaths in a population
      - Mortality rate - an indication of how many deaths occured in a population in a given period of time for a specific cause/ all causes
      - Causes of mortality
        
        Injuries and poisoning
        
        Injuries relate to physical trauma or damage caused to body tissue by an external force.
        
        Poisoning occurs when a substance interferes with normal body funcctions after it is consumed.
        
        Deaths from accidental causes such as car accidents and drowning contribute significantly to mortality rates during outh stage.
        
        Common causes of poisoning among you include drug overdoses and alcohol poisoning.
        
        Cancers
      - Mortality rates by age group and sex
      - Years of life lost
        
        Life expectancy - age at death
    - - Refers to ill health in an individual or the level of ill health in a population or group. It includes disease injury and disability.
      - Morbidity rate: Rate of ill health in a population in a given period of time
      - Incidence: The number of now cases in a condition in a given period of time (usually twelve months)

      - Prevalence: the total number of cases of a condition at a given time
      - YLD - Years of life lost due to disability - The number of healthy years lost due to disease, illness or injury. A measure of the impact of morbidity
    - - Hospitalisation can occur for chronic conditions or emergency care
      - Hospital seperations - episodes of hospital care that start with admission and end with transfer, discharge or death.
    - - Can occur as the result of injury, developmental problems and chronic illness.
        
        Self Care -
        
        Bathing/ showering , dressing , eating
        
        Mobility
        
        Moving around away from home and at home -getting in and out of bed or a chair
        
        Communication in own language
        
        Understanding and being understood by people, includes sign language
        
        Core Limitation Scale
        
        Profound - those who answered yes to always needing help are classified as having a 'profound core activity limitation'
        
        Severe - those who dont always need help, but may require help at times, are classified as having a 'severe core activity limitation'
        
        Moderare - Those who have difficulty with the tasks are classified as having a 'moderate core activity limitation'
        
        Mild - Those who simply require aids to undertake the task are classified as having a 'mild core activity limitation'
    - - Relates to unpleasant feelings and emotions that have an impact on an individuals level of functioning,
      - Measured using the kessler psychological distress scale (K10)
