Examples of Bonds
Some examples of covalent bonds are:
H2,O2,N2,H2O,CO2,CH4,NH3,CO.
Description
Why do they Happen?
In different elements, they have different amounts of electrons and energy shells. When the outer energy shell is not complete the electrons on this outer incomplete shell are called valance electrons. Elements look to be stable and have a full perfect outer shell, in order to do this they need to give up or gain other electrons. When they do that they can finally become stable.
What are they?
Bonds are when certain elements either give up or take extra electrons with the objective of filling that outer shell and becoming stable. They do this by taking or receiving electrons from other elements, causing them to have a few electrons from other elements.
Ionic Bond
Examples:
Some examples of ionic bonds are:
NaCI, LiCl, NaCi, CaO,
-
Description:
An ion is a charged particle formed from the gain or loss of electrons. It is an atom that has a net negative or positive charge. A negatively charged ion is known as an anion, and a positively charged ion is known as a cation. The ions formed have the same structure as their nearest noble gas. The atoms become positive when they lose one electron because it now has a larger number of protons than electrons.

Elements that don't have complete sets of valence electrons tend to react. When they react, they achieve electron configurations similar to those of noble gases. Some elements achieve stability through the transfer of electrons between atoms.
Mettalic Bonds
Description
A mettalic bond is much different from other forms of bonding, it is a chemical bond. It happens when a structure of positive shares a free atom in the air. This is called mettalic bonding

Examples of Bonds
Some elements in which mettalic bonds occur are silver, gold, brass and bronze.
