Waves - Coggle Diagram
Waves
Characteristics of waves
Frequency
The amount of wavelengths that pass through in a second (S/W)
Speed
The speed at which the wave travels (F*W)
Amplitude
The distance between level of crest and the equilibrium( vertical middle of wave)
Wavelength
The distance between a crest and the following crest (works with troughs too, formula is S/F)
Examples of waves
Electromagnetic waves (Radiation)
Vary in frequency from
to 10^-3 - 10^-8
Infrared, visible light, ultraviolet
10^-9 - 10^-12
X - ray, Gamma rays
10^3m - 10^-2
Radio, microwave
Slinkies being moved transversely or longtitudinally
Water surface waves
Types of waves
Transverse
Oscillations are perpendicular to its advancing direction
Longtitudinal
Oscillations are parallel to its advancing direction
