Simple Present
We use the simple present to talk about habits and actions in the present
For all the verbs ending in o, s, sch, ch, x and z, add ES to the base form
go - goes ; miss - misses ; wash - washes ; fix - fixes
when the base form of the verb ends in "y" preceded by a consonant, drop the "y" and add "ies"
study - studies ; hurry - hurries cry - cries ; carry - carries

Present Continuous
We use the present continuous to talk about actions that are happening at the moment.

The verb to be in the Simple Present is used as an auxiliary and the ending –ing is added to the main verb.
