TEACHING GRAMMAR - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Drill variation:repeat grammar item on its own, repeat intonation pattern, Teacher gives part of a sentence, student complete it etc.
      - Manner variation:only some of the students, individual student, loudly, slowly
      - Substitution drills: after the first drill teacher changes a word, students have to use that word on their own in the next one
      - Transformation drills: based on information given by the teacher, the student(s) transform the sentence
      - True sentences: Students answer the teacher’s questions with true information
  - - - can be done: in pair work, individually small groups, together
      - for example: fill in the gap and other textbook material
  - - - before class: prepare the dialogue containing already taught verbs, structures
      - in class: establish context, try to get the students to produce (most of) the dialogue via cues, miming, questions, select and correct their answers, establish the lines (drilling and correction), repeat steps for each line, repeat the whole dialogue
