Refraction:
-
-
When a ray enters from a rarer to denser medium, it's angle of incidence is greater than angle of refraction and the ray bends towards the normal.
When a ray enters from a denser to rarer medium, its angle of incidence is smaller than angle of refraction and the ray bends away from the normal.
When the angle of incidence is 0 or 90 degrees, no refraction occurs.
Refraction is dependent upon the refractive index of the material, which is given by the letter 'n'.

White light splits into: V (Violet), I (Indigo), B (Blue), G (Green), Y (Yellow), O (Orange), R (Red).
-
-
Due to the difference in the frequency and wavelength of the monochromatic waves in the white light, their speeds change when they pass through a prism.
