This is showing John Proctors honesty and how he exposed his truth to try and save the day.

Mr. Proctor: It is a lie" (Miller 89). (dishonesty?)

The quote is showing the dishonesty from Putnam and the false accusations he made against Jacob to steal his land.

This quote is Abigail's response to her uncle when he questioned her about what he saw in the forest. She denies it and says it was Tituba singing her Barbados songs and them dancing.
Proctor: "Aye, sir. She swears now that she never saw Satan; nor any spirit, vague or clear, that Satan may have sent to hurt her. And she declares her friends are lying now" (Miller 92).
Proctor says this on account of Mary Warren who was there to

This quote is John Proctor not wanting to bring light to his affair because it will tarnish his name. So he wants to lie about it and not tell anyone that he cheated on his wife.
