After his first book he became really famous in United States and he goes there for a tour where he explain that Aesthetics was a search of beautiful, a science that man use for to look the relationship between painting, sculpture and poetry. There he became famous for his irony and attitudes

He became so much famous that his presence was an event and he appears on the most famous magazines of London
During this period he write lots of book, the most important are: The canterville Ghost, the picture of Dorian Gray, the importance of being Ernest and others—> Not everybody appreciate his writes because were considered immortals and obscene

During this period he wrote a letter to his wife (De Profundis) where he tried to explain his thinks to her. She didn’t see he never more and he went in exile in France, where he lived his last years in poverty

He agrees with Aesthetic Ideals and he once said that his life is like a work of art. He was absolutely a dandy—> he used his elegance as a simbol of superiority of the spirit
His interest for beauty had no moral stance—> he rejected the didacticism of the Victorian novel and he deduced to don’t analised the moral question in his novel
He, as aesthetic, thinks that:
Artist= Creator of beautiful thing
Art= Instrument for celebrate beauty and sensorial pleasure

The protagonist of the story is Dorian; he represent the idea of youth, beauty and innocence. He is extremely influenced by the lord and for that reason he represent also the corruption of the middle class
another important character is Lord Henry Wotton that is an intellectual and really good talker; he is extremely angry with the institutions. He corrupted the innocent spirit of Dorian
The last important character is Basil Hallwars, he is the painter that fell in love with the beauty of Dorian. He never exposed the paint because is cared about the strange feelings that he proves for Dorian. At the novel he is killed by Dorian. Basil is an example of how a good artist could be destroyed in a sacrifice of art
The story tells of a man named Dorian Gray that is a beautiful young middle class man. His beauty impressionated a painter named Basil Hallward that made a pint of him. Dorian then met Lord Henry that corrupted him and he pass his life in pleasure and evil. Thanks to the Lord Dorian throw himself in the paint and so it becomes ugly and monstrous for all the bad action that the boy have done. When the painter discovered what he have done Dorian have to kill him. The story ended with the suicide of Dorian: he wants to free himself from the portrait and so he decide to kill himself. When Dorian died the imagine in the paint return beautiful and pure
This novel is tell by an onobstrusive third person narrator—> is adopted an internal prospective and the settings are ividly described
