complete sentences by writing up to three words, or two words and/or a number, in the gaps.

It is useful to underline the key words in the sentence before you listen to the recording. Doing this will help you decide what kind of information you need to listen for.
It is important think about what type of word will go into each gap. This helps you to be ready to hear it during the conversation.
Take care with singular and plural forms when you write your answers. If you use the wrong form, your answer will be wrong.
You can write numbers in figures or in words. It is good idea to write them in figures (19) as it takes less time and you will not make any spelling mistakes.

Predicting the answer
In the exam it is unlikely that you will be able to guess the actual missing word. However, it will help you a lot if you think about the type of word you are listening for.
- Underline the key words in each sentence
- Read the word before and after the gap
- Make a not of the possible grammatical forms of the missing word, i.e. adjective, noun, verb, etc.
- Try to guess the missing word, or some possible words.

In this type of task you complete a set of notes by writing up to three words, or two words and/or a number, in each gap. The instructions tell you how many words you are allowed to write.

The notes often have headings to guide you. They can help you follow what the speaker(s) are saying.
Notes often do not follow grammatical rules or layout. For example, there are my be auxiliary verbs or articles missing. The notes may also be lists with bullet points
'Signposting' (biển chỉ dẫn) words are words and phrases that speakers use to help their listeners follow their talk.
The speaker will mention some possible answers but only one is correct in each case. It is important to listen carefully for the information you need for each space. Use the headings and the notes to help you.
It can be useful to rephrase the notes to form a question in your own words. This will help you know what kind of information to listen for.

- The speaker is going to talk about a new topic and this will be the last thing he/she talk about (might be the last heading on the Notes)

When you need to answer a question with a number, it is easier and quicker to write it as a number rather than writing it in words. And also you are less likely to make a mistake.
