- - - - chloroplasts - where photosynthesis occurs, they contain a green substance called chlorophyl
      - large vacuole - contains cell sap, it maintains the internal pressure to support the cell
      - cell wall - made of cellulose, it supports and strengthens the cell
  - - - the main function of the egg cell is to carry the female DNA and to nourish the developing embryo
      - it has adapted to its function by:
        
        it contains nutrients in its cytoplasm to feed the emryo
        
        it has a haploid nucleus, a nucleus containing 23 chromosomes
        
        straight after fertilisation its membrane changes structure to stop any more sperm getting in, this makes sure the offspring ends up with the right amount of DNA
    - - its main function is to transport the males DNA to the female egg
      - sperm cell have adapted to there function by:
        
        having a long tail so it can swim to the egg
        
        it has lots of mitochondria to provide energy for respiration needed to swim the distance
        
        it has an acrosome at the front of its head where it stores enzymes needed to digest its way through the membrane of the egg cell
        
        it also contains a haploid nucleus, when the to reproductive cells fuse the nucleus' join to make a diploid nucleus
