Primary vs secondary
Primary - Fieldwork data which you collect yourself (or as part of a group) are called "Primary" data - first hand information that comes from you and people you have worked with. There are many different types of primary data and information such as sample size, survey locations and accuracy.
Secondary - Secondary data are information that another person, group or organisation has collected. Secondary data are very important in providing background information and a context for enquiry. It helps you to understand more about the places and the kinds of questions that might be relevant. Past river flow are one example of secondary data.
