This let a hard decision for the government wheter the americans would spend money to achieve this goal, so JFK had to draft money to the congress and if this wouldnt happened the Soviet Union woul´ve won the race.
Social
JFk managed to convince the Americans to make the imposible possible, he inspired a nation of scared people to join together and achieve the goal. They wondered of the possibilities of sending a man into space and meeting a new life.
A big part of the space race was America´s fear of the communist regime, they worried about their countries hope in the future.
Economy
JFK announced in the congress that the taxes will had to go up in price to pay for the new ideas, NASA´s budget had to be more bigger to afford everything that was being demanded. On the other hand, the taxes was a huge increase of jobs that were related to scientists and engineers, this would bring unemployment right down. Despite of the increase of taxes everyone gave the money to JFk because he captivated the minds of the americans.
