Capital intensive
- business processes or industries that require large amounts of investment to produce a good or service
Dublin city region

- fertile farmland, which provides a variety of raw materials for the food processing industries in the region.

Three new towns were built in Dublin city region. It provides 10000 houses and facilities such as schools,shops and public transport.
Polycentric
- having many centers, especially of authority or control.
Urban sprawl
- is a repid growth of an urban area into the surrounding countryside. Urban sprawl is a common around rapidly growing urban area.
Conurbation
- a group of town forming a continuous built-up area as a result of urban sprawl, e.g. Manchester and Birmingham in UK.
Knowledge-based industries
- are those industries which are based on their intensive use of technology and/or human capital.
The GDA is a transportation centre of Ireland. Roads, air transport, railway and inland waterway system are focused on Dublin (
nodal point)
Brownfield
- are often on disused or derelict land and are valuable as existing buildings can be split up into more homes on any one site. Are found in urban areas, so building housing there reduces demand on car use. In order to control the physical spread of dublin the city planners have to make careful plans to use existing land more wisely.
Core econmic regions
- core regions are wealthy regions. They may occur within a country such as Ireland, or within an economic regions such as the Europian Union.
GDA - the Greater Dublin Area includes counties Dublin,Kildare, Meath and Wicklow. It is part of the eastern and Midland regional assmbly.

GDA
- the greater dublin area includes counties Dublin,Kildare, Meath and Wicklow.It is part of the eastern and Midland assembly. The GDA is a core economic region because it has natural resources such as fertile brown earth soils and well-drained lowlands leading to the development of profitable commercial agriculture. Its coastline provides sheltered harbours for the fishing industry and tourism. It is a route focus/nadal point for Irelands road,rail air and river transport networks. Dublin city is a financial and administrative capital. It has high population density. Industry is attracted to this region because of its accessibility, resources and wealthy, educated population.
Primary city
- a primary city is a city that is largest in its country, province, state, or region, and disproportionately larger than any other other in the urban hierarchy
