Assessments As, Of and For Learning

Example: placement tests in English speaking, listening, reading, and writing prior to ELLs beginning a new school semester.

Formative assessments are a way to monitor a student's ongoing learning and provide feedback for both student and teacher.
Summative assessments are high stakes assessments set against a standard or benchmark.

Assessment As Learning: allows students to take ownership of their learning by monitoring themselves. Students employ a variety of strategies, such as asking questions setting personal goals, to determine a learning outcome for themselves.
