Unit 3 Living things in their environment (Leon)
Adaptations
The place where an organism life is called its habitat. Each kind of living organism has adaptations that help it to live in a particular habitat. Adaptations are special features that help it to live there.
Food chain
Example
Grass(producer)➡️Cricket(consumers)➡️Spider(consumers)➡️Small bird(consumers)➡️Hawk(predators).
Every food chain start with a producer
After the producer, everything are called consumers.
If you move another new animal to a new environment It will break the food chain.
Producer get energy from sunlight.
Pollution
Air pollution
Burning fuels produce carbon dioxide cause Earth get warmer.
Land pollution
Garbage land fill cause severe contamination of the soil.
Water pollution
Waste from toilets harms water animals and plants.
Ozone depletion
About Ozone
CFCs come from air-refrigerators, CFCs causes the ozone layer thinner at the north pole.
Harmful light that come from the thinner parts of the ozone layer burns your skin and maybe make your eyes blind.
Human activities
When plants and trees are naturally cut down and killed, farmers planted crops on the cleared land.
Some animals can eat the crops that the farmer grows. They may have even more food to eat than before the land was cleared.
Long ago, hunter had to work hard to find prey to kill ,but the hunters had to work hard to kill a single animals, so they don't kill much animals.
reduce pollutions
Water is pumped out and treated so that it is safe to release into the environment.
Pipes allow methane to be collected and used as fuel.
Soil and grass cover the rubbish.
Waterproof liner prevents pollutants from escaping into the soil.
Energy resources
Non-renewable energy resources
Dead trees fall into swamps.
The dead trees are buried under layers of mud.
Tree store energy from sunlight as they grow.
The wood gradually turns into coal.
Renewable energy resources
Plants
Energy from the sun.
Wind
