Moved to New York in 1949
Grew up in Monroeville, Alabama.
Education
Continued her education at an all girl college
Lee was a member of literary honor society.
Lee transferred to the University of Alabama and joined a sorority.
Lee was accepted in the universities law school her junior year forcing her to leave her job as an editor.
Lee did not think law was her calling so she went to study abroad in Oxford.
Lee went back to Law school in Fall but dropped out after the 1st semester
Working career
Worked as a ticket agent at 23.
Was given money by a friend to write for a year without work. During this time she wrote "To Kill A Mockingbird".
Worked on a project about two murderers with Truman Capote
Truman Capote
Truman was Lee's childhood protector.
Reunited at New York in 1950s.
Lee helped Capote on an article he was writing and helped him get different interviews about the murder case.
After this article the two grew distant from one another
Capote did not mention Lee's contribution to the project.
Childhood
Played with her brother and neighbor, Truman Capote.
Lee really enjoyed books and read a lot.
Grew up in the 1930's.
Grew up during times of racism and the Great depression
She was a tomboy growing up
Went to school in Monroeville.
