Albert Bandura theorized that children learn through observation. By being exposed to different ways that people (parents, teachers, babysitters, peers, etc.) react to certain situations, they can develop their own familiar responses.
Additionally, Lev Vygotsky theorized that children learn well through active, hands-on approaches. If children were able to role-play scenarios and ‘practice’ appropriate reactions, this could really help them internalize the behaviors and recall them in the heat of the moment later on.
