FLUID MECHANICS
Fluid in Motion
Streamline ( Laminar)
Every particle that passes a particular point moves along exactly the same smooth path followed by previous particle passing that point.
Turbulent
- the flow of fluid that becomes irregular above a certain velocity or under any circumstances.
- Eddy current - Irregular motion of fluid.
-
Equation of Continuity
-
- The product of the cross-sectional area of the pipe and the fluid speed at the cross section is a constant.
- Av - flow rate(volume per unit time)
DENSITY & PRESSURE
-
Pressure, P=F/A
- Force exerted by a fluid on an object is always perpendicular to the surfaces of the object
- Pressure can change from point to point
-
Pressure Measurement
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- Po=ρgh where ρ is the density of the mercury and h is the height of the mercury column
- measures the pressure of atmosphere
-
Bernoulli's Equation
- consequence of energy conservation as applied to an ideal fluid.
-
