Being Homeschooled
I was homeschooled in eighth grade. This helped me gain a sense of independence and gave me a lot of time to think. I realized how much of my future is up to me in the current moment
My sister
Growing up with my sister was learning about how kids behave and follow trends. I also learned to not always blindly follow authority and find was to question them and find my own voice.
Living in another country
Living in another country at a young age made me quickly realize how different people can be and how miscommunications can affect : : : relationships. I feel like this experience influenced my compassion and understanding towards other.
Dance and theater
These helped me break out of my comfort zone and develop more confidence. In general it reduces my fear of interacting with other people and makes me a better communicator
My mom
Was home with me the majority of the time. Raising me she taught me a lot about how to treat others and how to respect people of different cultures and ethnicities.
My dad
Would always take us out to do things and taught us a lot of practical skills. I learned a lot about politics with my dad as well as finding where I stand morally and how it relates to my political stance.
My grandma
My grandma taught me a lot of her life lessons. She was a very independent woman who knew how to stand up for herself. She helped me find my own individuality and stand up for what I know is right.
Claire Wineland
A youtuber with cystic fibrosis who made a lot of videos about her outlook on life. She really affected how I live my life and make decisions. I didn’t realize how much effect she had on my life until she passed away a few year ago.
Mrs. Esperanza
My elementary school teacher who taught me proper work ethic and how to treat an educational environment. In general I gained a lot of respect for the education system.
Fremont
Living in Fremont has also influenced my respect towards other people and their cultures. Living around so many different races and ethnicities helps remove bias and negative behaviors people who are not accustomed to this might have.
