What is evolution?
- The change in a species' attributes over generations.
- Evolution theory is based on the hypothesis that all species are related and slowly change over time.
- Relies on genetic variation, which influences an organism's physical features.
- Some traits might give a creature an advantage over others, which their offspring can inherit.
- Relies on the natural selection process.

Disruptive Selection
-
In a trait distribution, both ends have higher peaks, while the middle has the minimum.
-
Example: An area with black, grey, and white rabbits have black and white rocks. The traits for black and white will be favored naturally due to their advantages in camouflaging. Selective pressures act against the grey trait for being less advantageous.
-
Directional Selection
In a trait distribution, graphs tend to lean more on one side.
Example: In a giraffe-populated area, selective pressures will work in favor of giraffe's with longer necks, since they're more advantageous.
