properties of waves
describing waves
they can be explained using a time displacement graph
wavelength
it is represented by lamda and it shows the distance between sucessive crest
frequency
the frequency shows how many times a wave moved in a secound
the frequency is also the number of crest passed per second
speed
the speed the distance moved in the direction of travel in 1 second
amplitude
this shows the height and depth of the crest
types of waves
mecahnical waves
they are produced because of a disturbance in the enviorment
particles vibrating to and fro
water waves
sound waves
progressive wave
a wave that carries energy from one place to another without transmitting
transverse
the direction of disturbance is at right angel to the direction of travel of the wave
longitudanal
the particles of the transmitting medium vibrate to and fro from the same lineas in the wave the angel is traveling
electromagnetic spectrum
this shows the diffrent types of waves and how high they are on the spectrum
types of eletrmagnetic radation
light waves
the diffrent light colours have different intermediate leavels
infared rays
they are assorted with light and heat as they work well with heat
uv rays
they come from the sun and cause sun tans and they can penetrate deeper into the skin
radio waves
which are present in microwaves and they are also in radar so they help in comunication
x rays
they also penertrate into your skin and muscels to help you see your bones
