Investigation - Coggle Diagram
Investigation
What types of graph should you draw and when?
Mean of data
Add all measurements and and dived how many there are.
Bar charts
When you have a categoric independent and a continuous dependent variable.
Range of data
Pick the minimum and maximum = range.
Include units
Line graph
When you have a continuous independent and continuous dependent variable.
Line of best fit.
Tables
Clear and quick
Design before investigation
Scatter graphs
Same as line graph but no best fit.
Describe how to make data repeatable, reproducible, accurate and precise
Reproducible
Take measurements from different investigators using different equipment.
Accurate
Calculate the theoretical value and check against experimental data.
Repeating measurements and check range within sets of repeated data.
Repeatable
Make sure each measurement is repeatable.
Take their mean.
Precise
The data must be close to within sets ofrepeat measures
What different types of errors can you get?
Method or measurement carried out consistently incorrectly e.g. balance not being set to zero.
Not carrying out the method consistently in each test.
Poor measurement.
Define independent, dependent and control variables
Dependent - the one that you measure
Control - the one that you change
Independent - the one that you keep the same
Define categoric and continuous variables
Categoric - a variable that is a label, usually a word.
Continuous - is a variable that you measure, so its value could be a number,
