Women

gender pay gap

Loads of new jobs were now available
higher education
over 26,000 women going to university
better for women than men because women had a much better and bigger range of clothes and styles than men did. Gender equality took a step forward and was better; women could get a better education and learn just the same as men did and had a sharing of responsibility for children and housework! Women also achieved the Legal Protection For Women's rights. This then meant that they could get protection from the government when needed, for example, sexual violence.
they still didn’t get as much credit as men did. Although gender equality got better, it still was not the same. If a woman were to divorce with a man, the man would be able to keep her money, property and children! He would be able to kick her out. Equal Pay for work was only put as a law in the 1970’s, along with the Anti- sexual harrasment law in 1995. This meant that women had nearly no protection from the government at all.

Fights between different categories
The young people had no voice in the system, grown adults and elders thought of them as rebelious, naughty and stupid ‘children’ that were out of their minds. Older people thought that young adults were very bad influences. Also, some people were not able to afford new clothes and styles.
some young people were becoming very political. This means that they shared their opinions on things like war and they often disagreed with the government. They demanded that their voices be heard. This broke out into lots of physical arguments and fights. Sometimes the police had to come and separate these.
Some young people also took part in civil rights protests, which can be good and bad in different ways. This ended in 1968, meaning they had accomplished something very good (civil rights).

being gay was legalized in 1967
although it was illegal to be Gay for some time, in 1967, the laws changed! This allowed people to be Gay and Bisexual. Many people didn’t have to hide being Gay anymore and could be free and equal like everyone else (as it’s a human right to).

people were very racist and some people didn’t want black people touching their food; that meant that black people couldn’t work in shops that sold and worked with food. Many people broke out into fights and got discriminated against.
