MUSCLE CROSSING THE SHOULDER JOINT : MOVEMENTS OF THE ARM (HUMERUS)
ORIGIN (0) AND INSERTION (I)
0—lateral border of dorsal scapular surface I—greater tubercle of humerus inferior to infraspinatus insertion
Axially nerve
ACTION
Same action(s) as Axillary nerve infraspinatus muscle
DESCRIPTION
Small, elongated muscle; lies inferior to infraspinatus and may be inseparable from that muscle; a rotator cuff muscle
ORIGIN (0) AND INSERTION (I)
0—posterior surface of scapula at inferior angle I—crest of lesser tubercle on anterior humerus; insertion tendon fused with that of latissimus dorsi
DESCRIPTION
Thick, rounded muscle; located inferior to teres minor; helps form posterior wall of axilla (along with latissimus dorsi and subscapularis)
NERVE SUPPLY
Lower subscapular nerve (C6 and C7)
Extends, medially rotates, and adducts arm; synergist of latissimus dorsi
DESCRIPTION
ORIGIN (0) AND INSERTION (I)
0--coracoid process of scapula I — medial surface of humerus shaft
ACTION
Flexes and adducts arm; synergist of pectoralis major
MUSCLE
Small, cylindrical muscle
NERVE SUPPLY
Musculocutaneous nerve (C5-C7)
Coracobrachialis (kor"ah-ko-bra"ke-al' is) (coraco = coracoid; brachi = arm)
MUSCLE
Teres minor* ( te'rez) (teres = round; minor = lesser)
res major
Teres major
