Day 3 Learning- Climate Leadership
Biomimicry
copying natures structures, shape, or processes to make new innovations that have similar features
the first step of biomimicry is observation
Innovation through biomimicry- many things have been innovated by looking at how natures processes work, and function.
Climate change
what affects climate change
Deforestation
Pollution
Fossil fuels
Choices we have
Mitigation- reduce climate change - Adaptation- adopting to life in a changing climate- suffering- impact of climate change on our lives
Evidence of climate change
Global temperature rise
warming ocean
sea ice melting
Extreme weather events
Ocean acidification
how to save our earth from climate change?
1.
Used goods are good- reuse, reduce, recycle
2.
use alternatives to bad things like air conditioners
3.
eat fruits from the season you are in
4.
calculate your impact and reduce it
5.
walk, and cycle instead of using cars and other vehicles
Bio Empathy
Why is bio empathy important?
Understanding nature and its impact on ecological system
how humans are dependent on nature for food, oxygen, milk, etc.
nature is a great resource for us, we learn a lot from it
nature inspires innovation
bio empathy is the ability to see things from natures point of view to understand, respect, and learn its patterns
Difference between weather and climate
Weather
Weather is something that keeps changing, its the day to day temperature, etc. of a place, weather is the short-term condition of a place, it explains something then and there
weather is affected by many things such as temperature, humidity, cloud cover, etc.
Climate
a climate is the most common weather in a certain place, it does not change. climate is the long-term condition of a place, it helps you understand the average weather or atmosphere of a place
Climate is affected by many things such as latitude, elevation, mountain range, ocean waves, etc.
