digestive enzymes
The enzyme Amylase ,found in the mouth, break down starch molecules into sugar molecules.
The enzyme protease, breaks protein molecules into amino acids.
enzymes are specific to their matching substrate and no other.
The enzyme Lipase breaks fat molecules into fatty acids
enzymes speed up the rate of food being broken down, making it easier to swallow.
Digestive system.
the food enters the stomach and is broken down into molecules by hydrocloric acid*
4 the food molecules travel down the small intestine, where villi [tiny hair like things] absorb nutrients and take it to the blood. any waste travels down the large intestine and exits.
this acid is dangerous to you and so is neutralized by bile produced in the liver. *
digestion starts in the mouth where enzyme help speed up the process of breaking down food.
food [now broken down] travels down the Esophagus and into the stomach.
