Blood vessels entering and leaving the heart - Coggle Diagram
Blood vessels entering and
leaving the heart
4 - pulmonary valve
two from each lung
bring oxygenated blood
Blood vessels leaving the heart
pulmonary artery
it arises from right ventricle
Carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs
For oxygenation
Blood vessels leaving the heart(Aorta )
It arises from left ventricle
Carries oxygenated blood
To supply all parts of the body
coronary arteries -2
These supply blood to the heart
When there is a blockage in any
coronary artery
Deadening
Myocardial infarction - heart attack
Angina pectoris - Chest pain
Artery
An artery is a vessel which carries blood away from the heart towards any organ
characteristics
a thick muscular walls
a narrow lumen
the blood in it flows in spurts which correspond to the ventricular contractions of the heart
Vein
a vein is a vessel which carries the blood away from an organ towards the heart
characteristics
thin muscular wall
a wider lumen
the blood in it flows uniformly
it contains thin pocket shaped valve
Capillary
it is a very narrow tube
characteristics
its wall consist of single layer of squamous epithelial cells
it has no muscles
functions
to allow outward diffusion of oxygen into the intercellular fluid from there into the tissue cells
to allow inward diffusion of CO2 from intercellular fluid
to allow inward and outward diffusion of substances like glucose, amino acids, urea , hormones etc
to allow WBC's to squeeze out through the capillary walls by amoeboid movement
