Between 1900 and 2016, China was struck by 157 earthquakes. Fortunately for China, this earthquake-prone mountainous region is home to some of the country's least populous provinces, including Sichuan, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Tibet, and Yunnan. China is prone to earthquakes and employs seismometers on a regular basis.
