Mechanical Energy
Potential Energy (PE)
-
Elastic PE EPE = ½ kx^2

Elastic potential energy is energy stored as a result of applying a force to deform an elastic object. Springs and rubber bands store elastic potential energy that can be transformed into kinetic energy. The spring constant k is the amount of force needed to stretch or compress the spring by 1m.
-
-
Potential energy (PE) is the stored energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position relative to others, stresses within itself, and other factors.
Kinetic Energy (KE)
Kinetic energy (KE) is the energy of a moving object because of its motion. The kinetic energy of a moving object depends on the object’s mass and its speed.
