Aesthetics
What color schemes would be attractive to the target audience?
Chess normally has a white set of pieces and a black set of pieces, played on a black and white checked chessboard
Perhaps I could switch up the colors a bit?
What should the pieces look like?
Chess typically has many differently shaped pieces, including the King, Queen, Bishops, Horses, Knights and Pawns but the only way to tell them apart is their structure/ how they look.
They also don't look realistic at all, and are just kind of figures.
In some new versions, they make the pieces more realistic or based on different countries(there are Marvel chess sets, with the Hulk as a castle or Captain America as a king or an Egyptian chess set with pharoahs instead of kings, and each is looked and modeled differently).
Perhaps making the pieces look like popular characters, or something more relevant today than the classic chess pieces would increase enthusiasm among the target audience.

How would the game be attractive to them?
They have low attention spans so game needs to be quick and entertaining
Can be played alone?
People who spend way too much time on video games
Probably don't play board games because they think it's boring or old-fashioned
How to supplement the thril of video games for them and make the board games more exciting?
Perhaps increase the risk factor? Raise the stakes?
