force to take action comes from within ourselves

stem from an internal desire to engage in behaviours and actions
stem from a desire to affirm your self-image + prove yourself
Extrinsic
force to take action come from sources of yourself
stem from a desire to obtain an extrinsic reward
stem from expectations were imposed by others
actions based on this motivator are more difficult than the 1st one
find a purpose or a value to makes it work
gain momentum.

reflect a person's intensity/ desire to achieve goal and belief of achieving that goal
4, Self-esteem and motivation
self-esteem
perception you have of yourself
include: sense of personal pride and wothiness
important facts about self-esteem
is the result of your past experiences, choices, behaviours, decisions, consequences
reflect past reactions of acceptance or rejection from others
Individual with self-esteem
high
tend to be highly motivated and experience
their positive attitude help them: see mistakes, obstacles/ to learn, to alter appraches and trive to move forward
exhibit self-confident, feel control of lives.
low
higher feeling of lack of control with events occur in their lives
exhibt negative characteristic: intrinsic motivation lower, achieve goal less frequent, perceived as failure

Incentives -> strong motivators -> idividual places a high value/ willing to tajke action-> obtain rewards
incentives + rewards must be obtainable -> to work as motivator
Example:
employees -> not be highly motivated if the goal is unrealistically and unobtainably
state that incentives and rewards are the driving forces behind people's choices and behavior
Example:
children behave in a specific way to receive treat and praise
adults behave in the same to receive a paycheck or study long hours to get into pre-med programmes
