Actions to mitigate Climate Change

Plant as many trees as possible
Like I said, trees actually decrease the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.
This one may seem like a pretty basic one, but the fact is the more trees we plant the better. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, the very gas threatening our planet, and exchange it for clean oxygen.
Through photosynthesis, trees pull carbon dioxide out of the air to help grow their leaves, branches and roots, and release clean oxygen.
Protect key ecosystems
Protected areas such as provincial parks help to mitigate extreme weather events, enhance carbon storage, and provide space for plants and animals to adapt to a changing climate.
Not only do healthy ecosystems clean our water, purify our air, maintain our soil, and regulate the climate, they also bring us our food. If we don't have healthy ecosystems, we certainly won't have healthy food.
Forests, for example, clean our air solely based on the abundance of trees and living organisms. If we dont protect forests we won't get as much clean oxygen, therefore contributing to climate change.
Increase public transit
The American Public Transit Association says that the use of public transit saves an estimated 1.4 billion gallons of gas and 14 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually
If we increase public transit, we decrease the use of gas-powered vehicles since most rapid transit vehicles are electric, and we provide a better alternative to drivers, therefore taking more cars off the road.
Not only does public transit help the environment, it is also hugely beneficial for the economy and jobs, the more transit we have, the more connected our cities will be. Meaning we can drop that reliance to cars and their emissions.
You can save on average up to 5000 pounds of CO2 just by taking the train or bus to work. Not to mention how much gas money you save,
Continue to build green energy solutions
Building green energy power plants such as windmills, solar panels, etc. over fossil fuels will reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.
And when this happens, the number of pollutants present in the atmosphere will significantly drop as everyone will begin to get their power from these "Green" solutions.
Solar Panels
Solar panels are energy solutions that are used to absorb the sun's rays and convert them into electricity.
Windmills
The wind turns the blades of a turbine around a rotor, which then spins a generator, which ultimately creates electricity.
Retrofitting houses and buildings to make them more energy-efficient
An important thing that helps to stop climate change is retrofitting buildings with more energy efficient options. For example when the government builds new public buildings, or when companies or individuals build houses and new shopping malls.
Possible steps
Use Highly Insulated Windows and Doors
Install Energy Efficient Lighting
Use doors such as revolving doors that dont let in too much air from the outside.
Install solar panels on the roofs to supplement the existing power grid.
Install the most energy-efficient HVAC Systems.
An energy-efficient home or building reduces wasted energy usage, greenhouse gas emissions, and its reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
Education
Do the little things, many people say they want to be 'green', or say they care about the climate, but keep the lights on in rooms they aren't currently in, or leave the water running when brushing their teeth.
We all can say we want to do these aforementioned things, but if we, collectively, don't try to teach each other what will help, we won't get anywhere.
