The Industrial Revolution
The Luddites were a group of ex-workers that trashed and smashed up machines to protest against the unfairness of workers being replaced with machines
The Luddites: 1811-1813 destroyed machinery with weapons during the night.
The Industrial Revolution started in the 1750s when machines started to be used more often.
machines replaced people/took peoples jobs
There were still some workers when machines came along but they were getting paid less as time went on.
Children were used as factory workers because they could crawl under the machines and pick up loose cotton.
Steam engines were invented around this time to be used as a faster form of transport compared to the slower horse carriage
Machines were used because they could make products faster than humans.

The Slave Trade
They captured slave by burning their houses down and taking them on ships.

The woman and children workers were treated better than the men, meaning they got to cause more riots.

Some of the torture devices used by the slave owners were used as evidence that slavery should be abolished

If the slaves did not do what they were told they were hung
One of the torture weapons on the slave ships was the Cat of Nine Tails. A whip with, unfortunately, maximum effect.
The captains of the Slave ships were happy when babies were born as that meant they would be born into slavery
