ZINC OXIDE NANOFLOWER - Coggle Diagram
ZINC OXIDE NANOFLOWER
DEFINITION
-
PROPERTIES
Direct and wide band gap. The band gap of ZnO is 3.44 eV
at low temperatures and 3.37 eV at room temperature
-
-
-
ZnO has polar surfaces, and the most common polar surface is
the basal plane.
METHOD
HYDROTHERMAL
- Method of synthesis of single crystals that depends on the solubility of minerals in hot water under high pressure
- Chemical process that occurs in a sealed pressure vessel called an autoclave.
- Crystallizing substances from high-temperature aqueous solutions at high vapor pressures.
High temperature and pressure provide a one-step process to produce highly crystalline materials without post-annealing treatments.
-
ADVANTAGES
-
Regulation of rate & uniformity of nucleation, crystal growth & ageing
-
-
-
SOL-GEL
The ability to control the particle size and morphology through systematic monitoring of reaction parameters.
Involves four stages, namely, hydrolysis, con-
densation and polymerization of monomers for particle formation, growth of
particles, and agglomeration of particles.
During process, the metal oxide particle nucleation process occurs
normally by precipitation.

ANALYSIS
CHARACTERIZATION
XRD
Crystal atoms scatter incident X-rays, primarily through interaction with the atoms’ electrons.
