Book 3
Telemachus states that even if the gods don't help him, he has confidence in what he's doing. Then asks about King Agamemnon and Menelaus.
-
Telemachus introduced himself and said why he was there. Nestor responded by telling the story of what happened and all the suffering they had. He ends up saying that he went a different way in the end and he's afraid that he doesn't know what happened to the rest of the crew except for rumors.
They thanked Nestor for the information and said that they were going to head to bed after they prayed. Nestor refused and said as long as he's alive, he won't let them sleep on the ship instead of a normal bed.
Telemachus walked with Mentor (Athena) into the center of the town where Nestor and his sons happily greeted him. They all prayed to Poseidon and then began talking.
Athena said that was a good idea and told Telemachus to take the carriage they offered for the next day. She proceeded to fly away and Nestor was amazed at the fact that Telemachus was blessed by the gods at his age.
The crew arrived in Pylos to where the Pylians were sacrificing bulls. Athena led Telemachus onshore and told him not to be afraid.
The next morning at dawn, Nestor told his sons to prepare the carriage, kill a cow, and set stuff up for Athena.
Telemachus was ready to go after getting dressed (again, "like a god") and eat the cow. He got in the carriage and left for Sparta.
Book 4
After hearing the story, Telemachus said that this made it worse because his father's courage couldn't save his own life. He told everyone that they should go to bed and they'll continue the conversation the next morning.
The next morning Menelaus gets dressed and approaches Telemachus. T tells M his struggles and to tell him the truth of his father. Menelaus first curses the suitors and then begins the story of his journey and news about Odysseus
As Telemachus begins to cry, Helen comes downstairs and asks Menelaus if he knows who these people are. She then says that she's compelled by the sight of the likeness of the boy and Telemachus. Menelaus says that he noticed how the likeness as well.
Menelaus overhears Telemachus talking about the place and its riches. Menelaus ends up telling him that all this money he got is not worth it for the lives that were lost and the suffering they went through. He says that he misses them, but one man the most---Odysseus. He doesn't know if he's alive or not but he feels sorrow for Penelope and Telemachus.
Menelaus said that Telemachus could stay but T said that he didn't want to stay so he could continue his journey.
Telemachus and Pisistratus arrived in Sparta. Menelaus was having a party for his newly married children and happily invited them in offering food and hospitality.
Meanwhile at Odysseus' house, the person who loaned T the boat came to see if he was back yet. The suitors now understood that his trip and leave was successful. Penelope got information on plans they made to catch up to T and kill him. Hearing this news about the suitors plan and the news about T leaving, she started crying.
She got calmed down by the lady who helped T prepare and went to her room. She prayed to the gods to protect T and went to bed. Athena, as a phantom, came and visited her to tell her that everything would be alright and that there was a plan. The suitors got on their ship with their crew, and made their way to Telemachus.
Proteus told him what he knew about two bronze-clad captains, Ajax, Agamemnon and Aegisthus, and Odysseus, then went back into the sea. Menelaus and his men left to Egypt, sacrificed animals to please the gods, then went back home.
Eidothea tells him that he needs to catch Proteus so he can figure out which god he has sinned against and how he can go home. Eidothea tells him how to catch a Proteus. They caught him the next midday. After Proteus asked why they would do this to him, Menelaus asked how he could get home and what happened to everyone else who was trying to get home.
Menelaus was stuck on an island with his men for 20 days until Eidothea, child of Proteus, the old sea god, pitied him and came down to help
Book 2
Telemachus and the suitors kept arguing about Penelope and Telemachus finally said that if he can't find his dad or any news about him, he will set up a funeral and have Penelope get a new husband.
-
The suitor then tried to fight back by saying how Penelope deceived them for four years and they only found out from a maid.
-
At the meeting Telemachus joins, he starts speaking in frustration about the suitors and all the terrible things they've done to him and his family.
Athena told Telemachus that it would be alright and Telemachus was a good enough person for the job. She told him that she doom would take care of the suitors and to prepare for his trip
The morning came and Telemachus put on his clothes and grabbed his sword. "He left the room looking just like a god".
Telemachus went home to get provisions for the trip while Athena rounded up crew members. He ran into the suitors and told them that doom was coming for them, but they didn't believe him.
Book 1
Odysseus was being held in a cave by Calypso, a goddess, and the Cloud God took Athena's words into account and decided to try and make a plan to save Odysseus.
Athena arrived at Ithaca and was brought in by Telemachus. They start talking and exchanging information about each other. Athena (who's under an alias) tells Telemachus the plan to save his father.
Asks about how this man wrecked Troy, his journey, who he met, his suffering, and achievements
They said their goodbyes and she flew away. Telemachus saw that she was a goddess and got even more inspired to go talk to the suitors (who were uninvited and in his home)
Someone starts out by asking the goddess, child of Zeus, to tell them about a man
Telemachus told the suitors to leave and when they asked, told them that the person who just visited wasn't important and that he doesn't listen to gossip (in attempt to get them to leave). The suitors eventually went home.
Telemachus went to bed that night thinking about the plan that Athena told him and mentally preparing
