When Macbeth has murdered Duncan they say he has murdered sleep and that Macbeth will sleep no more therefore showing that by doing this deed he will gain so much guilt tot the point were his thoughts will keep him up therefore he can't sleep no more

this symbol is used as a scar that when you get it the thoughts will only fade but they will always be there like the quote " all the perfumes of arabia will not sweeten this little hand"
