Mrs Lovett
Corset- women wore these in the 19th century. Sleeves are falling apart. Apron for when she's making pies. Rips in dress- shows that her clothes are worn and old. Red dress- love, revenge, danger. Black corset- death, mystery, denotes dark themes of the play. Patches on dress- to poor to buy new ones at the start of the play.
Johanna
Jewellery in the Victorian era was more extravagant, it stood out more. No plain chains. Feathers on the line neckline of dress- Johanna is trapped like a bird. Blue dress to represent her sadness and longing. Also can symbolise peace, she experiences a quiet and lonely life. Corset- very popular to be worn by women in Victorian England. Dresses with long skirts were typically worn by women in the Victorian era, especially those who were comfortable in regards to money. Clean outfit as she's never allowed out.
Sweeney Todd
Working class man- worn clothes, look almost dirty. White shirt representing his innocence in the past which is then layered with a black waistcoat to display his new identity and intention, full of darkness and death. The white shirt also allows blood to be seen more clearly on his clothes when murdering the barber shop clients. Black trousers to go with the rest of the outfit, very gloomy looking. Complete opposite style and colour to what you would see in flashbacks of his former self as Benjamin Barker.
Judge Turpin
Wealthy man during the Victorian era therefore he would be able to afford tailored suits with fancy designs if he wanted to. Pristine look to display his class. Clean and new clothes.

Benjamin Barker returns with a the new identity of Sweeney Todd after being released from prison 15 years later. His aim is to make people suffer the way he did, especially the judge. He gets his revenge by killing everyone who visits his barber shop and then using their flesh as meat for Mrs Lovett's pies.

Love
Mrs Lovett- unrequited love for Sweeney Todd. He does not love her back. Sweeney still loves his wife, even though he's told that she died. Anthony and Johanna fall in love.
