hypothalamus controls pituitary which is divided into posterior and anterior. Posterior secretes oxytocin which is a strong stimulant of uterine contractions and acts as a hormonal trigger for milk ejection. ADH's target organ are the kidneys to stimulate kidney tubule cells to reabsorb water from forming urine back into blood. Anterior pituitary hormones are GH (targets bones and stimulated growth) TSH (stimulates the release of TH which increases metabolic rate, target organ is thyroid), ACTH (target organ is adrenals, regulates production of cortisol), FSH( target organ is ovaries and testes, stimulates ovarian follicle maturation and production of estrogen, in males stimulates sperm production) LH (target organs are ovaries and tests, in females it triggers ovulation productions of estrogens and progesterones. in males it promotes testosterone production.) Prolactin( target organ: Breast secretory tissue, it promotes lactation)
