To evaluate learning and achievement at the end of a unit, term, year or semester.

What?
A pre-assessment of what students know before teaching begins.
Occurs before a unit begins, when a teacher first meets a class, or individually for new students.
Can be in the form of written tests, verbal interview, or a demonstration of ability, ( Such as asking an aspiring cook to make a cake before bake class)
