Adoption, Enactment & Enforcement of the Constitution
The adoption & enactment of the constitution took place on November 26, 1949
The constitution came into force on January 26, 1950(Date of enforcement & commencement)
On December 11, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was elected the president of the constituent assembly.
26th January = Purna Swaraj Day

Republic - As against direct democracy, in a Republic, the people elect representatives to make the laws and an executive to enforce those laws.
Sovereign - Free from the rule of any other country
