Learner Variability
Lochness, yeti, and big foot article
Learning styles are a myth! everyone uses all "learning styles" and by only using one or two you lose out on development and learning that could come form using all of them.
Strong quote that i like from this: "Every student, regardless of variability, deserves the best opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge, especially those students who have been historically marginalized."
"All of us have multiple learning approaches that may be effective, based on the context, and this aligns much more clearly to the concept of multiple intelligences."

playing to strengths
All the information we used to have people memorize and recite, is at our fingertips in the modern age so we need to adjust our education to reflect that.
-
middle school and high school aged students tend to dislike things that make them different from their peers, and often are turned off by the word accommodations. They don't like to use them, possibly because the term feels like they have an accommodation because of a fault or a lack of something on their own part.
We really need to work away from timed assessments playing such a major role in school work, as it is currently tests like the SBACS and the SATs short change ma y students due to their time barriers.

Bowling to the outside
A straight forward throw something right at the middle and get as many people as possible approach will not work, and often times sets you up in an uncomfortable situation with at least one child or pin left standing
The best approach is to hit the hardest pins first, and work your way back up to the easier pins, much like with teaching children.
