Types of Government
Anarchy
There is no one in charge, there is no official government
Normally the people who have power are the people with resources (weapons, food, water, etc)
There are no laws and the laws that do exsist, are not enforced
Advantages: No one can tell you what to do, you are in charge of yourself and your actions.
Disadvantages: There is chaos. No one is around to enforce laws or keep order. The economy is in shambles. No one is there to help the people of society who cannot help themselves (the hurt or sick).
According to the 2021 World Population Review there are no current (true) anarchist countries. The most recent example would be Somalia from 1991 to 2006. The country was going through a governmental shift and was divided into competing factions ruled in different ways by different leaders.

Oligarchy
Real world examples
-
-
Russia is considered an oligarchy along with China, Venezuela, and Iran among others.
An oligarchy is a government controlled by a small group of people. They can be distinguished by a number of factors, some of which being nobility, religion, family, politics, or military power. These people have all of the power and so they can never be removed from office by an ordinary citizen.
Some advantages of an oligarchy are those with power normally have some form of expertise. An oligarchy reduces societal pressures because citizens will not have conflict over who to put in power. An oligarchy also allows anyone to join though they may have no form of power in it.
Some disadvantages are that over time it will inhibit the growth of the country as power is vested in so few people. Oligarchies also encourage income inequality because those at the top have all of the power. An oligarchy can also disrupt the economy as citizens become unhappy with who represents them and their lack of ability to do anything.
Democracy
Direct Democracy
-
A citizen may propse a bill. Bills and all government decisions are voted on by all citizens to be approved or denied.
-
Disadvantages: Things are slow to happen since everyone has to vote and the system relies on every member of society to be educated.
-
Republic Democracy
Citizens vote on representatives to make decisions and pass and enforce laws. They still have power, but not directly. A citizen must vote for a representative whose platform they agree with and who they believe has their best interest at heart.
-
Disadvantages: The system isn't as efficient in large communities and representatives could become corrupted
The United States of America has a republic democracy. Every citizen registered to vote has the opportunity to vote for a president every four years and local legislation at different times.
