5 KINGDOM CLASSIFICATION
Gymnosperms
Plants bear naked seeds which are not enclosed by fruits. The most distinct feature is the presence of cones. Examples are cycas, pine and fir.
Thallophyta
Plants with a thallus like body. They are mostly aquatic plants. Examples are multicellular algae like seaweed and kelp.
Angiosperms
The sporophyte is differentiated into stems, roots, and leaves.The vascular system has true vessels in the xylem and companion cells in the phloem.Examples:wheat, rice, and corn.
Pteridophyta
Plants that have a distinguished root, stem and leaves. These are non flowering plants. Examples are ferns like cinnamon and holly ferns
BRYOPHYTA
Autotrophic plants that lack true roots, stem or leaves. They possess root-like, stem-like and leaf-like structures called as rhizoids, caulid and phyllids. Examples are mosses and liverworts.
KINGDOM PLANTAE
CHARACTERISTICS
Characteristics: They are eukaryotic and multicellular. They have a cell wall. They have a well developed transport system. They contain chlorophyll and are autotrophic. They have both sexual and asexual reproduction
DEF KINGDOM PLANTAE
Definition: Kingdom Plantae is the group which consists of land plants and green algae. All of the organisms in Kingdom Plantae are multicellular and contain chlorophyll. A few examples are mosses, pine, sunflower.
