Climate Factors How and why does each factor effect climate and a pic
Elevation
Why: at higher elevation there are less air molecules to trap the suns heat
How: the higher you go the colder it gets
Latitude
Why: There is less sun the farther you get from the equator
How: The farther away from the sun you are, the colder it is
Ocean Currents
Why: cold currents come from the poles, and warm currents come from the equator
How: if the current is a warm or cold current, it will effect the nearby land
Bodies of water
Why: big lakes trap the heat from the summer and then releases that heat. This is because water takes a very long time to heat up and cool down. air then moves the warmth from the water to the nearby land.
Pic:
How: living next to a large lake acts like a temperature moderator. There is cooler summers, and warmer winter.
Relief
How: causes precipitation on one side of the mountain and none of the other side
Why: warm moist air goes up causing it to rain and leave cool dry air
Wind and Air Mases
Why: when cold air meets warm air, the warm air gets pushed into the clouds
How: when warm and cold air meet, it causes precipitation and storms
