Climate Factors How and why does each factor affect the climate
Bodies of Water
Why: Bodies of water affect the temperature and the level of precipitation.
Takes long time to heat up or cool down.
How: In summer the water is cool so the air around it is cool too, it then will blow over to the land. In the winter the water is warm so the air around it warm to then it will blow over to the land and warm it up.
How: Describes how far North or South you are.
Why: Its colder away from the equator, towards North or South.
Elevation
How: The higher you go the colder it gets
Why: At higher elevations, there are fewer molecules to trap the suns heat
Ocean Currents
How: Oceans make up 70% of the world.
Why: the tropics bring warm water towards the equator. this is called the circulation system.
Wind and Air Masses
How: all warm water comes from the equator, and cool water comes from the poles.
Why: the earth is spinning so that makes the waters mix.Everyday cold and warm water meet.
Relief :
How: Used to describe the difference in height between the highest point of area and the lowest.
Why: Places with a high relief can have a big impact of precipitation. Moist air rises so when it rises to a high point it will become hard rain
