MULCHING
Mulching is a treatment method to reduce the rate of condensation or evaporation of soil surface water
The mulch material consists of organic materials that are easily decayed and dry such as
composted palm coir
hay
rice husk. There are also mulch materials that have been processed
FINISHING
Finishing and planting hole treatment should be done for crop areas in paved areas such as walkway areas.
The guidelines for finishing and treatment are as follows:
i. Provide a sufficient open area at the base of the tree for ventilation and irrigation purposes.
ii. Kerb around trees that can prevent surface water irrigation should be avoided
-
iv. Iron mesh and perforated concrete sheets as planting pit cover, especially in municipalities.
v. For a large area, planting grass interspersed with bricks can promote aeration to the roots of trees other than providing beauty.
vi. The use and provision of ventilation and fertilizing ducts using perforated PVC pipes is encouraged. Pipes must be measuring 75mm and planted 450mm deep opposite both sides of the tree.
